Will Signal Become The New Whatsapp In 2021?
“They’re gonna steal all of our data. From contacts, photos, bank account details, and personal files. They’re gonna take them all.”
In the last few days, a big privacy policy change from Facebook has scared millions of people. Relatives are sending warning messages to everyone on their contact lists and telling them to switch to a different messaging app.
Everyone is scrambling to download the next best thing to Whatsapp, which popularly happens to be Signal & Telegram. It has taken the top place in Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store. Everyone wants to know the truth — is Facebook really going to breach the privacy of millions of Whatapp users to this extent? What do privacy policy updates even mention?
Improving The Business Experience Of The User
Whatsapp’s privacy policy is focusing on providing Facebook access to the user’s account, IP address, mobile network, battery level info, phone number, and even the mobile network provider — given that the user accepts the updated privacy policy by 8 February 2021.
Whatsapp emphasized that this will not impact the privacy of a persons’ encrypted end-to-end chats or calls, however, they will be able to access pretty much everything else.
